Why Burn a Koran? Another Conversation with a Member of DWOC

As you can see, I have been following the "Burn Koran" campaign for over a month now, collecting information that proves it isn't an act of Christianity, but an act of hatred and intolerance.

I've been actively having conversations and debates with people who go to the Dove World Outreach Center church and plan to burn the Koran. Some of them don't reply, some of them do. I've emailed the Honorable Pope Benedict XVI to see if this was permissible- he must have been busy so I didn't get a reply. I don't blame him. I also e-mailed the Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist. I anticipated (and still do anticipate) a reply from one of his assistants (at least), but I guess the matter didn't concern him. I also sent a letter to Rick Sanchez, of CNN's Rick's List, who interviewed Senior Pastor of DWOC, Terry Jones. I informed him of the efforts being made on our very own, "In Protest of International Burn a Koran Day" page on Facebook. I don't expect a reply from him, but I do hope someone was in reciept of my letter.

A couple of days ago, Mr. Wayne Sapp, Pastor and Host of the Burn Koran Day, posted a video on YouTube "challenging" us to give him reasons to not burn the Koran. Is he serious? Or is he insane? HOW MANY, HOW MANY reasons have we given him!? It is complete and utter ignorance that he disregards the fact that we have given him millions of reasons to not burn the Koran. He is asking for verses from the Bible and the Koran that say to be tolerance and promote coexistence. Easy.

But first, here is conversation I had with "J.L", which started from her posting that there is ONLY forgiveness through Jesus, again and again on our Protest page:
Me: Through Allah there is also forgiveness. How about you let me practice my religion and you practice yours. You'll never convert, and nor will I. I'll say it again: NOR WILL I! The only way you can make a person convert is through peace, tolerance, and knowledge. Three things you sadly lack. We WANT to create peace with you, but you want to create hatred. I really wish we could just all be friends, but you're pounding hatred on everybody. Tell me: how many people have you converted by doing this? Hmm? How many have YOU converted? From one religion to another, how many? If there is tolerance in YOU, then you would let the Mayor and Islam be. But you have ZERO tolerance. And nobody listens to an intolerant person. I love Christianity, I love Catholicism, I love Judaism, Hinduism, Islam- I LOVE RELIGION, and I love Jesus, Muhammad, Allah. And do you know what you love? You love Terry Jones. You love DWOC. And there is nothing wrong with that- but don't say you love Jesus, because a person as intolerant, hateful, and unwise as you doesn't love religion or any religious figures. I'm sorry. I apologize all the hurt 'Radical Islam' has caused you. But please, PLEASE!- Don't create a 'radical Christianity'. Thank you so much for your time. Peace and love: Aadil.
J.L:  Thanks for your mail- you seem like a nice guy-I don't have a problem with you! I see that we will never agree- and that is fine. As I was in Germany for 2 years- I talked to hundreds of Muslims everyday and preached to them about Jesus - Many of them got saved and converted to Christianity. Many did not though- because they have been afraid to do so because they have been threatened in the name of ALLAH / ISLAM with death threats.. etc... Do you know how many horror stories I have heard about abuse and violence in the name of Islam? I have seen so much oppression and violence from Islam while I was in Germany. Do you know how many death threats I have gotten in the name of ALLAH and ISLAM? What about all of that violence and oppression? What about all of the death threats I have gotten? Yes, I love DWOC and DR. Terry Jones. That is my church and my pastor- and that is the side that I have chosen to stand on. I love Jesus. I believe that he is the son of God and that he died on the cross for our sins- that he was raised to life on the third day- and that he is alive. I do believe that without repentance and forgiveness - and salvation through Jesus Christ you will go to hell.
As for the" hate speech" for Mayor Lowe- You can tell him- that is fine. If I would have the chance to tell him so in person I would do this. You didn't respond to this point about homosexuality and punishment of death under Sharia Law. Sharia Law is EVIL. It wants to kill anything and everything that doesn't line up with Islam. I have a problem being peaceful and tolerant when so many people are dying and going to hell. I have a problem being peaceful and tolerant while people are being killed, abused, beaten and mistreated in the name of ALLAH and ISLAM. I have a problem being peaceful and tolerant to other religions that point to salvation outside of JESUS CHRIST. If you have some valid reasons about all of my questions and concerns about Islam and Sharia Law- please let me know- I am curious to hear about this from such of a "peaceful" Muslim.
Thanks and be blessed!
Me:  I most certainly do have an answer. Sharia law is not enlisted in the Qu'ran. It is a system that was created centuries ago. It is TRUE that it was founded BASED on the words of the Qu'ran, but this does not mean that the schools which invented it also didn't have a misconception. I don't follow what is BASED on the Qu'ran, I follow the Qu'ran itself. You tell me one verse that says "Follow Sharia Law". And the verses you'll bring up will be only verses of what you say is violence - which is okay. It is a common misconception. Let me explain:

2.191: And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for Persecution is worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith.

Watch this video:
Conspiracies like is what invoked what you call "Radical" Islam or Islamic "Extremism". Radical Muslims in Iraq felt that America was attacking Islam, so they followed this verse. The verse in short basically says: "Defend yourself only if you are attacked. And only do back what they have done to you." So now here goes American troops, fighting a War on Terror, killing terrorists. To me, there is nothing wrong with that. But to radical Muslims in Iraq, they thought it was a war on Islam, rather than a War on Terrorism. So when troops killed one of them, they killed one of the troops. It was a cycle of wrong perception.

This verse isn't a "direct call for violence". It is a call for defense and justice. "Slaying" doesn't always mean "kill". It can mean fight. And people don't have to always fight using actions. They can fight using words -

2.190: Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors.

By "transgressing" limits, this verse means: Do not do more harm than one has done to you. - Which means justice, fairness, and equality.

2.192 But if they cease, Allah (God) is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

So there you go. Islam is about rejecting violence, and promoting justice, fairness, equality, and forgiveness.

And I'm sorry if people like who you call "Radical Muslims" have gave you a bad perception about Islam, Muslims, and the Holy Qu'ran - but PLEASE do not burn our Holy Book. It isn't even a solution- it's actually a problem. A solution would be to read a Qu'ran. A solution would be to spread Bibles. A solution would be to talk to a Muslim. A solution would be to TRULY stand up, and preach the Bible, and not "Islam is of the Devil".

I have a Bible in my house. It's from 1896. It's called the "Self Interpreting Bible Vol. 3., Isaiah-Malachi. I found it in the trash of a Christian home, might I add. I didn't burn it, trash it, or disregard it. I gave a good place in my home. I read it.

You? You simply burn Holy Books, thinking it will be a solution to end brutality. To end brutality ma'am, you need to fight with words, not actions - because if you fight with action, you will become brutal, and you will become a hypocrite.

Please, find a better solution.

Thank you so much for your time. Peace,

J.L:  Hi, Thanks again for your mail and reply. I have just one thought for you and I would appreciate this if you would take a moment and look at this. What I am saying is TRUE!! That JESUS CHRIST is the SON of God and that he was crucified on the cross and was raised from the dead on the third day. The sacrifice of his blood and the power of his resurrection forgives our sins, gives us hope and eternal life. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to be saved. What if the Koran is a lie- and leading you to hell? What if you died tonight and had to stand before God- what would you say? How would you justify your life on this earth? I will NEVER convert to Islam because it denies the fact that Jesus Christ was the son of God, that he was crucified on the cross that he was raised from the dead- and that he is alive RIGHT NOW... To heal, to save, to forgive. This is the Gospel- this is the power of Jesus Christ. It is by the GRACE of JESUS CHRIST that you are saved - not by your own works.
How will this affect you and your eternity? I am not here to hate or to judge- but I speak the truth! Thanks again.
Me:  Sorry I couldn't reply sooner; I was very sick the past few days.
I looked at what you said.

You believe that you are true. I believe I am true.

Have you seen the movie Zeitgeist? Here is a part of it. I believe you would find it very informational. You should show it to your friends too, it will change their minds.

This is about 9/11 isn't it? You think Muslims were responsible for the acts of 9/11? Just like you repeatedly say "It's been proven many times that the Islam is of the Devil", I say: "It's been proven many times that 9/11 was an INSIDE JOB."

What if I asked YOU the same rhetorical question? What if the Bible is a lie- what would you say to Allah? How would you justify your life on this Earth? I know your answer! YOU WON'T - because you believe the Bible is the truth! Because currently you are a bigot thinking what you say is true. I'm a bigot too because I believe I am true. Mind as well call Jews, Hindus, etc. bigots too because they believe they are true.

All that doesn't matter.

And BY THE WAY, you asked me a question- I answered it. I wasn't trying to convert you to Islam, you're trying to convert me to your religion.

What matters is you are doing a HUGE dishonor to your fellow Christians all over the world by burning a Qu'ran. What matters is you are fulfilling in acts of disrespect. What matters is, millions of people around the world want to create peace, and your "Church" is stuck up on their disrespect.

If what you are saying is the truth than why doesn't EVERYONE just convert to your religion, huh? It's because they have their own beliefs, and YOU ma'am, will have to learn to tolerate them.

You shall have YOUR religion, and I shall have MINE. Read it until you understand it.
J.L:  Hi, Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that you were sick- I hope all is well with you. My stand against Islam is not all about 9/11. As I have said before- I have seen and experienced Islam and heard many horror stories from Muslim women- from Iraq, Iran.. etc..during my last 2 years in Germany and Europe. I have read the Koran... and to be honest- It does nothing for me. I find and feel no compassion, grace, mercy , or hope from Allah. When I speak about Christianity I am not just talking about religion. I am talking about JESUS. I have experienced true salvation, forgiveness and healing- I know what the Bible says and I have experienced this too. You can call me what you want and label me how you wish- but this is what I believe and am willing to put my life on.
Me:  Thank you.

If your stand "against" Islam is not about 9/11 than why are you burning my Holy Book which I hold sacred ON September 11th?

Sure, it is delightful that you love your religion and Jesus so much that you are even putting your life on the line - that is absolutely inspiring.

What isn't delightful is that you are disrespecting my religion.

I'm sorry that reading the Qu'ran hasn't "done anything" for you. But that doesn't mean it hasn't done anything else for the millions of Muslims around the world. Don't be selfish. Don't be hateful.

Don't burn the Qu'ran. Please.

And no more replies after this. If the fact that it is disrespectful to burn a Holy Book isn't an adequate reason for Wayne Sapp, than what is?

You want verses? Here's one that similar to the Qu'ran verse I stated in the conversation I had with J.L (2.191)
"Do to others as you would have them do to you." -Luke 6.31
Wayne Sapp said in his video that there isn't any hope for forgiveness in the Qu'ran. That is like me saying their is no hope in the Bible because of Mark 3.29 (Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness), when there is hope. I guess he hasn't read the whole Qu'ran, because in almost every chapter of the Qu'ran it says that Allah is Oft-Forgiving. Yes, it does say that those who annoy Allah and His Messenger have a humiliating punishment. Because those who annoy Allah are those who haven't asked for forgiveness.
"For Muslim men and women, - for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's remembrance - for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward. - Al-Ahzab 33.35
Have I proven you wrong? Yes.

You say that the Bible allows you to burn Holy Books? Your enemy is Islam right?:

"Love your enemies, do good for those who hate you, bless those who curse you, PRAY for those who abuse you. From anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes your goods, do not ask for them again." -Luke 6.27-30
"Love one another as I have loved you." -John 15.12

You hate Islam? But the Bible tells you to love. Fire never means love, or else heaven would be hell.

I've said this once, and I'll say it twice. On behalf of the true Muslim community, I apologize all the death threats you have received. Wishing death upon someone is against Islam. Killing someone is against Islam. You know what else is against Islam? Not defending for what you believe in. This is a misconception by many Muslims around the world and even Christians. We have to defend what we believe in, but we can not transgress LIMITS. Some Muslims need to understand this limit, and Christians do as well. It does say in the Qu'ran to fight - but this doesn't mean kill- that is transgressing limits - ESPECIALLY suicide (Holy Qu'ran 4:29). That is extremism. That is "Radical". And now DWOC wants to create a "Radical" Christianity.

They are claiming that these ARE acts of love. But that makes me wonder. What will their act of hatred come out to be?

You tell me.

Who agrees to Burn the Koran? Certainly not Mayor Lowe of Gainesville!

A Photo Outside of Dove World Outreach Center

I sent an e-mail a few days ago to both Mayor Craig Lowe of Gainesville, FL, and to the pastor of the 'Harvest Christian Church', only about 1.7 miles away from the Dove World Outreach Center, whose followers plan to Burn Koran's on the night of 9/11 as a remembrance to the fallen victims. Both have replied that they oppose this event as it is giving a bad name to Gainesville, and a bad name to Christians.

Here is the message I sent to Harvest Christian Church:

My name is Aadil Malik, and I am a 15-year old Muslim teenager residing in Pennsylvania. Our community, and most of the entire U.S., is highly concerned about the planned hateful acts being planned to be taken at the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, FL, only about 1.7 miles away from your vicinity. I'm sure you may have heard that on September 11th, 2010, the DWOC, a church, plans to burn our Holy Book, the Qu'ran, as a preaching of Islam being of the "devil", and that it will be an act to remember the people who died on September 11th.

To many people I know, this is an act of intolerance and hate. In fact, over 6,000 people to date, of ALL faiths, are on a page on Facebook reflecting their concern and opposition of this planned event, which you can see at:!/pages/In-Protest-of-International-Burn-a-Koran-Day/105895039464821?v=wall

As Muslims, we are extremely concerned and are making efforts to create peace, and oppose this event. I wanted to see if your Church is also taking constructive action in the opposition of this event.

Please let me know your thoughts as soon as possible. I look forward to speaking with you.

May peace be with you,
Aadil Malik

The pastor of Harvest church had this to say:
Thank you for your e mail concerning the Dove Outreach Center.  If you want you can go to my Facebook for July 27th In which I condemn this behavior.  When Abraham was on the mountain for the near sacrifice of his son, Isaac in Jewish/Christian tradition and Ishmael in Muslim tradition (unless I am mistaken), there came a point in which God said "Stop you have proved your faith".  It is time for all people of faith to stop acts of discord and prove their faith by acts of love.  Sadly there are both Christian and Muslim people who will not allow dissenting voices.  As I a follower of Jesus I condemn all behaviors that are contrary to the way of Christ and offer friendship to anyone.  We may disagree but we may be filled with grace in so doing.
I offer you my friendship...

I sent basically an edited version of the same message I sent to Harvest to the Mayor. Another heart warming message is one I received from the Executive Assistant of Mayor Craig Lowe of Gainesville, FL:
Good Morning,
Mayor Lowe is in receipt of your email correspondence.  For your information, I have attached a copy of the Mayor's press release which was issued yesterday.  This matter has also been forwarded to the City Manager's Office, the City Attorney's Office and the Equal Opportunity Office for review. Thank you for taking the time to comment on this matter.
Executive Assistant to the Mayor

The press release is probably the best thing I've read in this entire cause, because it is coming from one of the highest agendas in Gainesville.

These replies reflect how hateful this act is. We can only pray that this act will not take place.
