Justice is Just This: A Poem by Aadil Malik

FIFA World Cup 2010

I've recently been involved in the World Cup for Soccer this summer, keeping me away from blogging about it. I honestly have to say, this is probably the best sports event ever, definitely surpassing the Superbowl due to it's length and number of teams. It unites all countries that are participating in it. A couple of days ago I was chatting with someone from Germany about the World Cup and he said he wasn't a fan until this year, just like me. He told me he doesn't care who wins the Cup, he simply enjoys the idea of unification that it brings -- and that's the truth. No other sport event that I have watched is as intense, as heart-stopping, and as massive as the World Cup.

No one is caring if anyone is a 'bandwagon' fan, nobody is rooting for just one team, and everybody is having fun. And that is what a sport should be about. SPORTSmanship.

So, thank you FIFA World Cup!

And on a side note, how about Landon Donovan's game-concluding goal! 91-minutes in! Check out the incredible goal below if you already haven't seen it (Courtesy: MojoHoops.Blogspot.com)!

Keep it up USA!

Who is Aadil Malik?

Today, I performed a speech to the entire high/middle school student body at my school.

Who is Aadil Malik?
This unique human of which opportunity he seeks
Called an over achiever by his peers but he’s actually just an achiever
This believer, who is Aadil Malik?
I’m Aadil Malik.

I hope I have your most attentive ear
Please listen to me for I have to share
To you my minute credentials compared
To the other candidates, but please be fair
August 17th, 2009, the day I first came here
I went from popularity to loneliness, it was clear
From the “cool kid” to the “new kid”, an experience that I needed to bear
But I just shut up my mouth, and let the year take its steer
I’m Aadil Malik.

I walked around CCS like a robot on an every day schedule
Woke up, showered, got on the bus, homeroom – listened to CNN Student News with Carl
There was no change
First four classes, Schneider’s class, lunch, bathroom at 11:55, locker at 12:01, next four classes, fill up my water bottle, go to the bus, walk right home
There was no change
My day ranged from boring to insane
But I was fully content with absolutely no complaint
I’m Aadil Malik.

Sure, I’m not as funny as the other candidates
Not as experienced, as old, probably not even as confident
But I am willing to become better, and at least I am honest
I have no need to lie, it shouldn’t be ironic
I’m Aadil Malik

And as President, I will make an effort to listen to your suggestions everyday
I won't have many rights, but at least the right to advocate
I will make an effort to grant some REAL Free Dress Days, no need to pay
Isn’t that why they should call them free anyways?
I will try to share with you on the morning announcements some thoughts every Wednesday
To listen to your suggestions, I will try having Student Surveys
I will propose a Student Government-sponsored field trip to an amusement park of your choice if I may
I will even make an effort to find partnering companies for it to possibly fundraise
I will understand the mission statement of CCS in every way
I will be the best advocate I can be, I will get this school published in the news, for it is great
I will astonish you and even myself by making accomplishments out of my mistakes
I will never guarantee everything I say, but I certainly will bring an honor to this place
I’m Aadil Malik.

You might be thinking that I don’t communicate
But actually on my blog I’ve communicated to more than 800 people to date
You might be thinking that I don’t have leadership experience accumulated
But that is what I seek, I want to be educated
You told me I won’t win
But I told you back, to just wait
I’m Aadil Malik.

Though, I hope this isn’t a popularity contest
Because nobody knows me
I hope this isn’t a bribery game
Because nobody told me
I hope this is what I really signed up for
Because I want to show you me
I hope this is a presidential election
And I hope that you vote me

Who is Aadil Malik?
This unique human of which opportunity he seeks
Called an overachiever by his peers but he’s actually just an achiever
This believer, who is Aadil Malik?

I am Aadil Malik; and I hope YOU approve this message.

"Collateral Murder": WikiLeaks

I've been wanting to TFAT this subject for a while, and now I've got the chance.

Take a look at this video, it is 18 minutes long, but VERY necessary to watch.

One of my friends once asked me:
"Do you think we could live in unity, instead of acting with irresponsible lunacy?"
Lunacy will always exist even if unity is more apparent. Imagine 6.8 billion pens without caps on. Would you take the time to put their cap's back on? Unity would take time. Lunacy is easy. It's like being obese. Sitting and eating is easy. Exercise isn't. So the answer is yes we COULD, but sadly we never WILL.

Three years ago, this happened. The video was obtained only two months ago. Before it was released, the U.S. military never revealed how the Reuters staff were killed or how the children were injured. So the question arises, why does our government hide things from us?

The actual video is more than 35 minutes long.

For some, this video right here proves the theory that Americans are the terrorists and insurgents. For some, this video proves that soldiers are under great stress and to calm down they have to use profane language in order to kill suspects.

The dialogue of the special forces influences the idea that WE truly are, in the 'Middle-Easterners point of view', the insurgents.

This morning, the soldier responsible for "leaking" the video to the website WikiLeaks, has been arrested for TREASON. I truthfully believe this is an act of cowardliness by the forces that arrested him. HOW is this an act of treason?! It is an act of Freedom which is expressing and showing the TRUTH! America should not hide under a veil! Our reputation is already exceedingly corrupt. We cloak ourselves from reality.

The man who submitted the video should be honored, not arrested. He clearly wanted everybody to know the truth.

On my first blog post:
Yacoob said...
Interesting points, but the militiary used rules of engagement to make sure that our armed forces arent using terroristic tactics to win a war.
Here are the U.S. - Iraq Rules of Engagement: http://file.wikileaks.org/file/us-iraq-rules-of-engagement.pdf
In my mind, the idea that there is a website called WikiLeaks, makes me suspicious. Why would soldiers submit secret files? Obviously because something is going wrong. True, in this video, all rules of engagement are being enforced. But are Rules of Humanity being enforced? Rules of Knowledge? Rules of Sanity?
In this video, WE are the terrorist. We are using acts of violence against civilians to reach a political goal. It was clearly a mistake, but this is for example's sake: So if we are the terrorist in this case, if who we currently called terrorists attacked us, what would we call them then? It's a rhetorical question, but that's the point.

It probably isn't incorrect in the military, but it is for humanity. It is sickening to just listen to the words being used. It is sickening to realize that our military IS killing SUSPECTED civilians. It is sickening that some soldiers don't care that they are killing mostly innocent people rather than terrorists.
Terrorism is a cycle. We kill a terrorist. They kill one of us back. We shoot a terrorist along with hundreds of civilians. The families of the civilians become "terrorists" to get some sort of payback. It will never end. As we shoot them, they grow bigger. And now if we stop, they will attack. We are stupid: we thought we could defend and attack at the same time.
It is a lose-lose solution. We are adding more fire to a fire already created. The only way out of a war is peace, and when peace is reached, this unnecessary war will end.
 You tell me.
 -That's the TFAT.

Running for School's President

On a personal note:

I haven't been updating the blog lately due to studying for finals and such. In fact, I haven't really "TFAT'ed" anything in a while. But I'm still alive.

I've actually also been busy running in the Presidential Elections at my school, and I need YOUR help. I'm currently making posters advertising my credentials, but I need ideas. So, I want YOU to please take a couple minutes and think of a slogan or an idea for a poster, or just a general suggestion.

Or even just wish me luck (;. I appreciate it.
